Government/Economics are semester long classes required for seniors at La Serna. The Government class covers the basic structure of the US Government including federalism and the three branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. The Economics class covers basic fundamental economic principles and units include market economic systems, microeconomics, macroeconomics, savings and investing.

AP Human Geography is a college level class offered for our elite freshman. Units of study will include population, migration, culture, language, religion, ethnicity, political geography, economic development, industry, agriculture, and urban geography. Case studies from around the world will be incorporated into each unit of study. The year long course will prepare students for the AP Human Geography exam in May.

Updated November 1, 2016: AP HuG students testing on Chapter 4 and starting Chapter 5 this week: Identity: Race, Ethnicity, Gender and Sexuality. Economics students testing on Chapter 8 and taking District Common Assessment test.
