On behalf of the La Serna High School PTSA, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2011-2012 school year! We welcome the opportunity to get to know many of you this year, and we are eager to get to work and make this a productive and happy school year. There are many events in place as we enter La Serna’s 50th year. Please make yourself a part of all that is scheduled to take place at La Serna.

For many of our students, the summer weeks were busy with sports, band, cheer/song, ASB, or Link Crew activities. Many others dedicated long hours to completing summer reading or other academic assignments. The La Serna PTSA also put forth many hours this summer working on a budget, assembling membership packets, filling committee chair positions, creating a directory, and many other activities to help keep you informed for the benefit of all of our students. Summer activities are a terrific way for students to get to know each other and, through PTSA, for parents to bond as well. We encourage all students and parents to join activities that will help you grow and keep you informed of all that will be taking place this year!

It is important to remember that we are all on the same La Serna Team. Let’s help one another through encouragement and support. We urge all upperclassmen and their families to help show our incoming freshmen the ropes. As parents, we can all remember feeling a little lost without the right information. Let’s take a new family under our wings and show them how great our school is! If you are a new family, please feel free to contact any of our board members. Their contact information is located in your PTSA directory which is distributed during the Parent Partnership Meetings and for sophomores, juniors, and seniors, during confirmation week.

Lastly, we want to encourage every family to please purchase a PTSA membership. Membership envelopes went home with every student along with the directory and other important school information. Your support is very important. Let this be the first step in your involvement at La Serna. Our first meeting is on September 7th at 8:30 at the College Corner. Please join us!
