Frontier High Students Learn Life Skills

In an ongoing effort to promote career pathways and life skills, Frontier High School recently partnered with the Whittier Chamber of Commerce to provide 10 students the opportunity to explore financial management skills during a Bite of Reality 2 event.

Bite of Reality assigns students a fictional occupation, salary, spouse and family, student loan debt, credit card debt and medical insurance payments. Students then have to learn how to maintain a fixed monthly budget on a fixed income.

Under the leadership of career adviser Emmett Brock and college adviser Sunshine Zuniga, this group of Frontier students will attend monthly Whittier Chamber events throughout the remainder of the academic year, giving them the opportunity to network with business owners and explore career pathways.

Frontier High School has worked over the last year to build on its career technical education (CTE) efforts, including providing students with job skills, resources and career pathways.
