The Program for the Visually Impaired, part of WACSEP (Whittier Area Cooperative Special Education Program), assists the visually impaired student, parents, special and regular education personnel, and sighted peers in meeting the unique educational needs of the visually impaired student. The V. I. program provides support services to the following school districts:
The Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is responsible for specialized instruction and services required to meet the unique educational needs of the visually impaired student.
The Orientation and Mobility (O & M) instructor teaches students to travel with proficiency, safety, and confidence in familiar and unfamiliar environments.
Services, books, materials and equipment are provided as indicated in the IEP.
