Superintendent's Message

April 2026

Dear Whittier Union High School District Community,Superintendent Dr. Monica Oviedo

April has been filled with incredible successes across our District, highlighting the dedication of our students, teachers, and staff as they continue doing Whatever It Takes “To Achieve and Maintain Excellence.”

This month, we celebrated National Assistant Principals Week, recognizing our outstanding assistant principal staff who work tirelessly to keep our schools running smoothly and ensure every student has the support and resources needed to thrive. Thank you for your continued leadership and commitment to our schools!

Additionally, across campuses we continue to see our students succeed. Congratulations to Whitter High School senior Maggy Guerrero for being named a 2026 Edison Scholar. Maggy is one of only 30 students in Southern California to earn this prestigious $50,000 scholarship, an achievement that reflects her hard work and bright future ahead.

We are also incredibly proud of the La Serna High School girls water polo team for being named CIF Division 2 Champions and the Santa Fe High School cheer team for winning the CIF Title in the 4A Non-Tumbling Division and the USA National Varsity Show Cheer Advanced Non-Tumbling Division. Congratulations to our Lancers and Chiefs for these standout accomplishments!

On April 10, some of our top female student leaders from across the District gathered for the Young Women’s Leadership Breakfast. It was an inspiring opportunity for students to connect, engage in meaningful dialogue, and learn from professional women representing a variety of career fields. I am grateful to be part of a District that offers these types of opportunities for our students to continue growing and building confidence.

As we head into the last part of the 2025-26 school year, I am looking forward to our continued celebrations of students, teachers, and staff. And, of course, graduation season! I encourage all students to make full use of the tools and resources available through our guidance counselors and wellness centers. Let’s finish this school year strong!

Sincerely,
Dr. Monica Oviedo
Superintendent
