Superintendent's Message
March 2023
Dear Whittier Union High School District Community,

It has been a successful and busy month at the Whittier Union High School District, with our students participating in various enrichment activities, advancing in athletics and receiving awards and scholarships. We are proud of our students, teachers and staff for continuing to do Whatever It Takes to reach their academic and personal goals.
This semester, our school sites have been focusing on college and career readiness and some have even hosted Career Fairs, giving students the opportunity to explore their passions and learn more about the options available to them after high school. Thank you to all of the organizations that participated in these events and brought new opportunities to our students.
Earlier this month, Whittier Union schools were thrilled to welcome our 2023-24 incoming freshmen for our District’s annual Frosh Night. Eighth-grade students from our partner school districts were welcomed by Associated Student Body groups and Link Crew members and were wowed by exciting performances from our cheer and song teams, and band and color guard.
During the event, incoming freshmen students and their families learned more about the different academic programs, extracurricular activities, academies and sports available to them in the District.
At Whittier Union, creating a welcoming and nurturing environment for all of our students is a top priority. Thank you to all of our student groups, teachers, staff and administrators who participated in this event and helped make it a huge success. We can’t wait to welcome the Class of 2027!
As we move closer to the end of the school year and summer break, we are eager to see all that our students and staff will accomplish as they work to fulfill our District mission, “To Achieve and Maintain Excellence.”
Follow our District Facebook page for updates, news and highlights.
Sincerely, Dr. Monica Oviedo
