Teacher Power

Teacher Power is WUHSD's three-day orientation for new teachers and teachers new to the district who may have previous teaching experience. Teachers participate in an interactive orientation that covers topics such as the California Standards for the Teaching Profession, classroom management, technology in the classroom, professionalism, syllabi/organization of content, Social Emotional Learning, and lesson planning. Teachers are also introduced to the demographics and organization of the district, as well as culture, key leadership, values and the mission and vision of the district. New teachers are also introduced and voluntarily enrolled in the Whittier Secondary Education Association and instructed on the online district grading platform, Aeries. The Personnel department also briefs the teachers on necessary information and procedures. For the third day of Teacher Power, site administration conducts training and presents information and systems relevant to their particular school culture.
