Career Technical Education/Educación en Carreras Técnicas

Career Technical Education:

The California Department of Education defines “career technical education” as a program of study that involves a multiyear sequence of courses that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide pupils with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers. Career technical education includes agriculture education, home economics, industrial and technology education, and regional occupational centers and programs, among other educational programs.

Website for Career Technical Education:

Pupils can learn more about career technical education at the following California Department of Education website: www.cde.ca.gov/ci/ct/

Counseling:

Your child has the right to meet with a school counselor for help in choosing courses that will meet college admission requirements, or enrolling in career technical education courses, or both. If you wish to schedule a meeting with a school counselor, please contact the Counseling Office at your student’s school.

Local Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship Programs (EC §§ 48980, 48980.5 & 49600):

The District uses the Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Apprenticeship Standards’ database of registered program sponsors to identify available local apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs. The District may use the contact information from this database to obtain additional information or materials—such as pamphlets or brochures—about these programs. A link to the Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Apprenticeship Standards’ apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship database can be found here: https://www.dir.ca.gov/databases/das/aigstart.asp
